{"id":1335,"date":"2020-10-20T19:04:30","date_gmt":"2020-10-20T19:04:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tdosites.com\/imperialbeach\/?page_id=1335"},"modified":"2022-04-12T20:10:30","modified_gmt":"2022-04-12T20:10:30","slug":"endodontic-surgery","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/tdosites.com\/imperialbeach\/endodontic-surgery\/","title":{"rendered":"Endodontic Surgery"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h1>\n\t\tEndodontic Surgery\n\t<\/h1>\n\t<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/B2zzXiXQbU0\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n\t\t\t<h3>When Is Endodontic Surgery Necessary?<\/h3>\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t<p>Generally, root canal treatment is all that is needed to repair your injured tooth. \u00a0Occasionally, the root canal procedure will not be sufficient to completely eliminate the problem. \u00a0If the tooth is not healing we may suggest surgical treatment. \u00a0Endodontic surgery can be used to remove persistent infections, locate fractures or treat hidden canals that do not appear on x-rays but cause pain in the tooth. \u00a0Damaged root surfaces or the surrounding bone may also be treated with this procedure. \u00a0The most common surgery used to save damaged teeth is an apicoectomy or root-end resection.<\/p>\n<p>Endodontic Surgery known as Apicoectomy starts with an incision in the gum tissue to expose the damaged tooth and\/or bone. \u00a0The damaged portion of bone or root is removed and the surrounding areas are cleaned. \u00a0Sometimes a root-end filling is placed at the end of the root to prevent re-infection. \u00a0The gum is sutured back in place. \u00a0The bone will heal naturally over the next few months. \u00a0We will closely monitor you and your tooth during this time.<\/p>\n<p>Following this procedure, you may expect some discomfort, swelling, and possibly bruising of the surrounding area. \u00a0This is normal after any surgical treatment. \u00a0We will guide you through the postoperative healing with specific instructions and medications as needed. \u00a0We are only a phone call away if you have any questions after your surgery.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Endodontic Surgery When Is Endodontic Surgery Necessary?
